Le 23 septembre, Sono Ryota, un des organisateurs de plusieurs manifestations à Tokyo et initiateur des « 50 jours de manifestations consecutives pour la liberté » sur un thème différent chaque jour, a été arrêté et emprisonné.

Sono Ryota est un militant anti-nucléaire, syndicaliste du « Freeter Union » (syndicat des jeunes précaires) et membre de NoVox Japon. Le 23 septembre, la coordination des mouvements sociaux contre la toute sorte de discrimination et pour la solidalité internationale avec le slogan « il n’y a pas de frontière pour le droit de vivre » a organisé une manifestation pacifiste dans un quartier populaire et multiculturel de Tokyo, souvent la cible d’attaques par les mouvements extrème droite. Ce jour-là, cette manifestation contre le racisme exigeait aussi la libération de militantEs arrêtés au Mali contre accaparement de leur terres et pour apporter son soutien aux familles en lutte explusées de leurs logements où à la rue en France. Pendant la manifestation, les policiers sont intervenus violement. Cette intervention brutale des policiers a eu lieu suite à un ordre « arrêtez-le » visant directement Sono Ryota.
Pour se saisir de Sono, les policiers ont tabassé les manifestantEs qui essayaient de le protéger, puis ils l’ont menotté et conduit avec force dans la voiture de police. Selon l’avocat qui a pu le rencontré, Sono était bléssé au visage et son corps couvert de bleus. Une prise forcée de ses impreintes digitales et des photos ont été pratiquées pourtant elles ne sont autorisées que lors des arrestations pour les criminels et les étrangers. A sa contestation contre la violation des droits humains fondamentaux, un policier lui a répondu « tu n’a pas de droit humain » .
Manifestement la police sur ordre a decidé en mettant ce militant en prison de faire taire une voix importante du mouvement anti-nucléaire et des sans voix du réseau NoVox Japon.
